Wiring schematics are presented below. You can use other, similar boards to NodeMCU v1, but you'll need to adjust pin numbers in the control program.

tip

Note, that Vln, GND and 3v3 pins may be replaced by other pins (blue, orange and green arrows), if you won't have enough physical space during build process.

Keep in mind, that pin numbers differ between the ones presented in wiring schematics. You'll need this later.

Other boards

As you can see here, any other boards should also be ok. PIN numbers are almost the same.

The only issue you may have is size of holes for screws. If you're not planning to unplug USB cable, you can ignore this issue and do not scew the board to the box.

Real-life example
